SHUT DOWN the Corporate-Owned Politicians, the NSA, Guantanamo, & Perpetual U.S. Wars – NOT THE NEEDS OF EVERYDAY ORDINARY PEOPLE!
Published in Issue 531 of The Black Commentator on October 3, 2013
By Larry Pinkney
The current U.S. government SHUT DOWN is not gridlock – it is insanity. It is an insanity which is the by-product of an utterly corrupt political/judicial system.
The corporate-owned U.S. government (including Democrats and Republicans alike), from the White House on down – in essence had already SHUT DOWN on the needs, hopes, and aspirations of the everyday people of this nation and world – a very long time ago. Our task is to collectively, consistently, and creatively find the ways and means to SHUT DOWN and SHUT OUT the scandalous, pontificating, Republicrat [i.e. Democrat and Republican] politicians who have, for so long, unceasingly pimped and manipulated the fears, needs and hopes of everyday ordinary Black, White, Brown, Red, and Yellow people.
Beginning with the corporate blood sucking Wall Street elite, there are indeed many things that truly need to be SHUT DOWN, including perpetual U.S. wars, the U.S. torture gulag of Guantanamo, the spying/police-state apparatus of the NSA (National Security Agency), the unconstitutional indefinite detention provision of the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act), Barack Obama’s ‘Kill List,’ and the incredibly barbaric and sadistic detention and cruel & unusual punishment of thousands of U.S. political prisoners including Leonard Peltier, Mumia Abu-Jamal, Eddie Conway, the terminally ill Lynne Stewart and of course Herman Wallace (who was unjustly imprisoned for 41 years up until October 1, 2013), and so very, very many others languishing in U.S. prison gulags. [Reference September 19, 2013, Black Commentator article titled, ‘Show Love For LYNNE STEWART & All Political Prisoners]. These are the things that should be SHUT DOWN immediately!
While the U.S. corporate-stream media engages in ongoing diversionary and obfuscation tactics, in order to keep the attention of everyday ordinary people focused away from the above-described outrages; the Democrats and Republicans put on a never-ending farce in Washington, D.C. – one which is designed to keep everyday ordinary people divided from each other – while being kept firmly “chained” and enslaved on the symbiotically-joined political plantations of the Democrat and Republican parties. It continues to be the same old game of ‘divide the people’ and rule them. As Rosa Luxemburg stated, “Those who do not move, do not notice their chains.” Our challenge is to both “notice” [i.e. recognize] and break our chains.
The needs, hopes, and legitimate aspirations of everyday ordinary people in this nation are diametrically opposed to the ‘divide and rule’ interests of the Democrats and Republicans. Thus, these two political parties (which are in reality ONE corporate-owned political party) manufacture fake skirmishes with each other at the enormous expense of everyday ordinary struggling people.
It is becoming increasingly obvious that the entire U.S. political system, including the judiciary, is not representative of the will or needs of everyday people. And it is the ordinary people who can and must bring about the systemic change that is so urgently needed by the struggling masses of ALL colors in this nation. It is indeed time for a SHUT DOWN – a PEOPLE’S SHUT DOWN & SHUT OUT – of the corporate-owned blood sucking Democrat and Republican party politicians.
This rotten, corrupt system will not change itself, and in the words of Frederick Douglass, “Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.” Therefore, we have much collective work to do and much struggle to engage in.
We the everyday ordinary people in this nation must join with the rest of humankind in the quest to save ourselves, each other, and our Mother Earth. Only WE can do this. Moreover, we cannot and will NOT give up or give in, nor will we forever surrender our civil liberties and humanity to the avaricious, corporate-owned vultures of the Democrat and Republican party!
There truly is so much work to be done!
Remember: Each one, reach one. Each one, teach one. Onward, then, my sisters and brothers. Onward…!
