“The purpose of a writer is to keep civilization from destroying itself.”
—Albert Camus“O my body, make of me always a man who questions!”
—Frantz Fanon
Welcome to the U.S. corporate/military police and surveillance state. Welcome to 21st century fascism in the U.S.A.—Obama style.
Having been among the very tiny portion of writers who, in the years 2007 and 2008, sought to repeatedly warn everyday ordinary Black, White, Brown, Red, and Yellow women and men in this nation about the horrors of a possible Obama presidency, it is now obvious, in this year of 2013, that my worst predictions have come to fruition. (Reference article in The Black Commentator of October 30, 2008, titled, An Obama Presidency: More of the Same Only Worse.)
It is now crystal clear to all discerning persons that Mr. ‘Hope and Change’ Barack Obama, was and continues to be nothing more than a cruel and cynical systemic corporate/military Trojan horse—a hoax pitted against the legitimate needs and aspirations of everyday ordinary people of all colors. Mr. ‘Hope and Change’ is, in reality, drone man, police surveillance state, Mr. Rope and Chains! In the words of Frantz Fanon: “O my body, make of me always a man who questions!” Indeed, make of all of us people who question!
The police surveillance state is not coming, it is already here—ushered in under the guise and ‘leadership’ of Barack Obama and his corporate-owned Democrat and Republican party cronies. And with each passing day it is becoming increasingly and blatantly more brutal and insidious.
The French philosopher and author Albert Camus said, “The purpose of a writer is to keep civilization from destroying itself.” Camus was quite correct, but it is also the duty and responsibility of all of us—be we writers or not—to actively and vigilantly guard, and, in this instance, regain our humanity, our human rights (both individually and collectively) and to cherish and protect our precious Mother Earth from these avaricious bloodsuckers who would destroy us all for the sake of their insatiable greed and lust for personal power!
What could be more precious than healthy new born babies whose lives will not be encumbered or snuffed out by hatred, disease, and perpetual (profit-driven) wars?! What could be more precious than enjoying a truly free society wherein we human beings can openly and honestly express ourselves without fear of reprisal from a corporate police-surveillance state whose very policies thrive on stoking the flames of ‘terrorism’ (nationally and globally), in order to rationalize snooping and despicable intrusions into every aspect of our ‘private’ lives?! What could be more precious than bringing into being a nation and world where life, and Mother Earth herself, are recognized as gifts—not as commodities to be manipulated, exploited, and/or mercilessly and incessantly ground into submission by the inhuman wheels of an amoral and deceitful corporate/military machine for the benefit of a tiny vampiric national and global power elite?! What if the lying and greedy so-called ‘leaders,’ representing the national and global corporate/military power elite, gave a war but a critical mass of everyday people told them and their corporate-stream propaganda media moguls to go to hell?!
Are these questions nothing more than pipe dreams? If they are, they are dreams certainly well worth struggling for, rather than the nightmare which we ordinary people are presently enduring! We must understand that we do not and cannot have genuine freedom and justice by relinquishing them! Only we, ordinary everyday people of all colors, can reclaim and regain our humanity and freedom TOGETHER. No, it’s not a short or easy struggle, but it is an absolutely necessary one.
Yes, we in this nation, are under the de facto 21st century fascist dictatorship of the power elite’s corporate-owned Democrat and Republican parties—but it does not have to remain this way!
The time has come to stop cooperating in and with our own systemic enslavement! This political, economic, and social enslavement must be recognized for what it is and thrown off!! We’ve nothing to lose but our chains.
In the words of the late great Langston Hughes, “Let America be America again . . . !” We must creatively and persistently find the ways and means to do that which must be done. At stake, quite literally, is everything for this nation and the peoples throughout Mother Earth!
Each one, reach one. Each one, teach one. Onward, then, my sisters and brothers. Onward!
